Summer roses and whites
4 roses and 4 whites, including 2 sparkling wines. All quite similar in character, being light and very drinkable. Either as an aperitif or with summer dishes and salads.
Of the roses, the Rosado Barrica, Finca Manzanos, Bodegas Manzanos seemed to be the favourite. At only £12.49, this has bright red fruits, hints of candy, and aromas of brambles and pastry. It is slightly oaked, which gives it a wonderful flavour and it is great with Tapas.
The whites split the group slightly. Not helped by the fact that we finished on a slightly different style of wine in the Casa Marin Sauvignon Gris. This is a wonderful wine and could just as well be drunk in the winter as in the summer. Powerful floral and spicy aromas with a touch of pink grapefruit - at £20.99, this was a big favourite. But the Gorgorito Rueda Verdejo was also enjoyed. This is a wonderful summer wine, light and floral with vibrant zesty notes. Great value for a wine of this quality - only £10.60.
Everyone was involved and gave great feedback. Looking forward to our next tasting on the 27th June which will be Organic wines.
