April Newsletter

So this month we bring you details of our brand spanking new Vegan Tipples Spring Box, our recommendations for the Easter bank holiday, and at a time when many of us are feeling the pinch, a round up of some incredible wines which won’t break the bank at under £10 a bottle

Before we crack on with all of the above, just a quick word of thanks.  Thank you for supporting this small, vegan business based in Edinburgh.  Providing you all with the finest wines we can source which are, of course, 100% vegan, is our raison d’être.  We love it when you share with us on social media how much you are enjoying your vegan wines, beers and spirits you have purchased from us, so please do give us a tag using @vegantipples or #VeganTipples on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook!

The brand new Vegan Tipples Spring Box has landed, and we're really excited to share with you the six simply gorgeous wines we've selected for this £55 box...
A selection of wines - fizz, white, rose and red. Perfect for Spring.

Cielo e Terra, Casa Defra, Prosecco Rose - an awesome choice for those early barbecues: “Pale rosé in colour, this elegant Prosecco has a strawberry and cherry bouquet. Fresh, balanced and persistent on the palate with a fine mousse.”
Il Meridione Catarratto - pairs wonderfully with salads & vegan kebabs: “A ripe, versatile and approachable dry white from western Sicily. Floral, peach and tropical fruit aromas with a hint of fennel. Rounded and gently honeyed flavours on the palate are balanced by lemony acidity.”
Indomita Nostro Reserva Riesling - a cheeky bottle to enjoy on its own or with vegan curries & stews: “This is an excellent representation to showcase the diversity of this grape. Dry, light, refreshing with some minerality. A beautiful pale green colour, intense lime and lemon aromas with a hint of flora, refreshing and zesty on the palate.”
Bella Modella Pinot Grigio Blush - here’s a wine just asking to be enjoyed as an aperitif or with salads & risotto: “This delicate rosé has deliciously strawberry laced aromas followed by a seductive palate of crisp, juicy, creamy fruit. Ideal sipped chilled on a summer’s day or coupled with lightly spicy foods.”
Campo De Flores Organic Tinto - hello spring evenings with this gorgeous red: “Ripe berries bring personality and the surprising finish gives a wonderful, warming slightly spicy kick to this incredible organic wine.”
Funkstille Zweigelt - a joy to drink with roasts and barbecued food: “Abundant red cherry, plum and vibrant berry fruits combine in this joyful, bright and incredibly juicy red; medium-bodied with beautifully ripe and light tannins and touch of spice on the finish.”

World Malbec Day, 17 April

To celebrate World Malbec Day on 17 April, if you haven't already had the pleasure, may we introduce you to Man Meets Mountain, Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina, 2021?
"Great things are done when men and mountains meet, this is not done by jostling in the street”.
The quest for higher quality has seen Argentina's most ambitious winemakers push into the Andes foothills where the higher altitude and meagre soils produce the finest grapes. Man Meets Mountain is one of our own production projects in Argentina made in conjunction with our consultant winemaker Sebastian San Martin.

Part of the Malbec is from Vistalba and trained in a vertical training system which is drop irrigated, over aluvial soil. The rest is from Medrano, also in a vertical training system, drop irrigation over medium texture soil. The terroir and climate is desert like with a Monzonic influence.

"Man Meets Mountain celebrates those that face up to and conquer the challenges posed by nature and brings to you a harmonious Malbec, packed full of blueberry, blackcurrant and plum and a complex and delicious finish."

International Viognier Day, 29 April

To celebrate International Viognier Day on 29 April we'd like to tell you all about Cuvee Balthazar Viognier 2020...
It would be difficult to find a winemaker more passionate and enthusiastic about his products than Pierrick. From a long line of winemakers himself, Pierrick sources grapes from selected growers in the Languedoc and applies scientific techniques along with winemaking mastery to produce wines in his own individual style.

This wine is excellent with vegan cheeses: "Aged on its lees to develop the complex and sumptious flavours of apricots, stone fruits and white flowers. This wine has delicate elegance but with strong and intense flavours."

Wine of the Month...
Every Friday at 5pm, we reveal the wine awarded the highly coveted title of 'Vegan Tipples Wine of the Week'! (Check out our social media - see below - to keep up to date with the weekly selections!)
Here we select the very best of the best as our Vegan Tipples Wine of the Month!

This month we present to you Wild & Wilder, The Exhibitionist Merlot, Barossa Valley, South Australia, Australia, 2019.

Wild & Wilder is all about good clean fun. Working hand in hand with their merry (in a good season) band of growers, they craft wines of supreme quality but don’t take it all too seriously. Great fruit, grown by great people and made with a lot of love by people that know that wine is all about the good times, delicious food and creating great memories.

This is a wine that pairs well with Asian food, vegan stews and cous cous: "The Exhibitionist is full of rich plum and damson fruit on the nose. Oak used is unobtrusive on the palate which is dominated by rich red berry flavours while also presenting subtle earthy nuances. The wine is elegant and silky with a long finish."
