Veganuary 2022

It's that time of the year again and we really hope that this year, more than ever before, people will try to move to a vegan diet.  Whether the motivation comes from a wish to move away from contributing to animal cruelty, a desire to make the important lifestyle change as the move to vegan can help minimise our own carbon footprint by so much, a hope to become a healthier individual, or indeed just curiosity about being a vegan as it is gaining so much popularity - we wholeheartedly applaud anyone giving it a go this month!

Did you know that you also need to be mindful about what you drink, as well as what you eat and wear, if you are a vegan?

We formed Vegan Tipples in 201? as we were passionate about finding the very best wines, beers and spirits that were 100% vegan.  Many wines, beers and spirits contain animal products in the form of isinglass (which is made from the swim bladders of fish), gelatine, casein (derived from cow's milk) and albumin (from eggs).

Here at Vegan Tipples we pride ourselves on finding the very best suppliers from all over the world, providing 100% vegan drinks.  More often than not, this goes hand in hand with businesses who are ethical in their approach to all aspects of their operation.  Many of the drinks we supply focus on biodynamic or organic production.  In additional to all of this, they taste fabulous too!  So if you're new to veganism, welcome, and we really hope you'll enjoy discovering some incredible new vegan drinks along the way.  If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to get in touch.  You can email us using the link below!

Happy Veganuary!

Dry / drier January...If you're trying to reduce your alcohol consumption for this month, either as part of the Dry January campaign, or as a response to the excesses of Christmas / New Year celebrations, then we have some suggested low alcohol drinks for you...

Gen!us Craft Lager is just £2 a can, and is the UK's first light craft lager.  Gen!us makes healthier, ethical drinking a pleasure, not a compromise. With exactly 1 unit of alcohol and only 79kcal per can, it’s not just #smartdrinking it’s genius!
"Gen!us is brewed with the finest pilsner malts and Styrian Golding hops, then matured with Australian Galaxy and Ella hops for a zesty, citrus aroma. With less carbonation than average lagers, Gen!us is refreshingly smooth, easy drinking."

At just 6% AVG this Stella Bella, Pink Muscat, Margaret River, Australia, 2020 is a really great low-alcohol option.  From a boutique winery in the heart of Margaret River creates idiosyncratic named ranges like Suckfizzle and Skuttlebutt in a low interventionist and organic way keeping their approach as simple as possible to allow their cherished vineyards to show their quality.  It is not merely in the names where these wines are memorable, as once you have tasted them you will see why Luke Jolliffe, the winemaker, continues to receive recognition and awards from around the world for wines that have that wonderful Margaret River restraint and elegance, but are bound together with a fruit purity that makes them delectable.
"The wine has an immensely appealing bouquet of rosewater and Turkish Delight, intertwined with orange blossom and musk. The spritzy palate is brightly fruity, displaying fresh strawberry and Turkish Delight flavours, combining zesty fresh acidity to deliver a supple, fresh and delicate finish."
Just £12.25 a bottle.

Lastly, if you're looking for something completely alcohol free, but full of fizz and flavour, how about this Dr. Fischer Steinbock Alcohol Free Sparkling Wine?
The Fischer family have been cultivating vines in the famous village of Ockfen, on the River Saar, since 1758. The twelve-hectare holding includes a parcel of the Bockstein vineyard, which is classified as a Grosse Lage, the German equivalent of grand cru. The style is classic Saar: racy, grapefruit-scented, delicately structured yet intense. The low thermal stress ensures that the character, taste and fine aromas of the original wine are preserved and the remaining alcohol content is less than 0.25% by volume. "Fresh and crisp, with a fine mousse. A harmonious blend of aromatic stone fruit and floral flavours, with a perfectly balanced streak of acidity".
Just £11.50 a bottle.
